Late Winter and Spring 2010

I am not very good at updating this blog regularly, but when I do, I mean business. I hope this humongous entry will bring everyone up to speed on what the three of us have been doing over the past few months. Jane continues to blossom. She can run, climb up onto all the furniture, say many words, use a spoon and fork to feed herself, and dance up a storm. She really enjoys spotting doggies and birds, strolling and feeding her babydoll, and "talking"/"texting" on Chris and my phones. We are constantly amazed at how quickly she is transitioning from a baby to a little girl and we are just totally in love with her.

This spring Chris got a job with a local organic farm, Suzie's Farm, working both on the farm and at our local farmer's market. It is a real departure from his editing work, but I think he is enjoying the change of pace. As a added bonus, he gets to bring home tons of delicious produce. I just wrapped up my spring teaching assignment for the Museum of Photographic Arts and I am looking forward to teaching several summer camps the museum is offering.

We are fortunate to live less than a mile from the San Diego Zoo and we often pop over there for a few hours to walk around. Jane is just starting to get into the animals. Here we are one evening with a lioness.

I had to do a little travel for work in February and so Mom and my brother Ben met me and helped look after Jane. Even though it was a business trip, I managed to spend quite a bit of time with my family.

Now back in San Diego. Here are some shots of Jane being Jane.

Valentine's Day -- Such a sweetheart (sorry the picture is sidewise, a little oversight)

We had a dessert picnic on the beach for Valentine's Day.

Back at the zoo.

Jane and Dylan during one of their playdates. Notice the sequence of events.

Walking is GREAT!

Finally managed to get a clip in her hair!

"Let me just grab this real quick."

Here is Jane with Dylan the birthday boy!

She has keys figured out.

More zoo.

We went up to Mariposa for Easter/Spring Break. It was great to see everyone. Jane especially loved all the attention and the many doggies that live at my folks' house.

Snuggling with Babu.

Playing with Uncle Ben.

Making bunny sugar cookies with Meme.

Outside exploration.

Both of them are wishing Dusty could come in the house.

On the lookout for dogs and birds.

Trip to Yosemite with Meme and Babu.

First bike ride.

Sitting with Papa on Easter.

A natural tabla player.

Four generations gathered to admire Nanny's potato rolls.

Trying to figure out her Easter basket.

After Easter dinner it was time for some music and dancing (courtesy of Jane). Uncle Ben gave Jane a harmonica, which was a tremendous hit.

Back in San Diego and enjoying a pizza picnic at Mission Beach.

Here are Chris and Jane at the farmers' market. Jane and I always make it a point to stop by and say hello.

Jane found a great new place to sit.

On a hike down to Black's Beach.

I tried to show Jane how to put a flower behind her ear. It was really cute for a second, then she started putting everything in her ear.

Here she is putting a piece of gravel in her ear.

Every May a local neighborhood hosts the Adams Avenue Roots Festival where lots of wonderful bands play for free. Jane got her first ice cream cone at this event.

Watching X's John Doe perform.

Second ice cream cone.

Dylan and Jane enjoying the sun and looking extra adorable.

This winter Chris planted a lawn for our small front yard and we have really been enjoying it over the past few weeks.

Back in Mariposa for Mother's Day. Here are Jane and Babu enjoying a little rest after a wildflower hike.
Jane and Uncle Joe bond over photography.

Having fun at a cool drum shop in Los Angeles.

Cute little trouble makers.

Kickin' it in the Stallion with Dad.

Always wear your pants with style.

Babu came down to San Diego to see Grandma and Grandpa Goger, so we went up to Escondido for a little visit. There were bubbles, it was terrific fun!

Rocking out on Dad's drums.
