Baja

One of our first dates was a Sunday drive to Tecate, Mexico to have beer in the plaza. On that date we decided that we would like to continue to explore Mexico together. Mainland Mexico was the ultimate goal, but we took full advantage of having Baja right outside our back door. During 2006 we stole away to Baja any chance we had and by the time the year was over we had pretty much covered the entire peninsula. Memorable moments include: driving the back road from San Felipe to Bahia de los Angeles, burying Chris' dad's truck in sand at "The Wall", putting a hole in the Subaru's exhaust pipes on the lava rocks 12 miles out on the cape at San Quintin, Cara's photo-op with drunken soldiers at a military checkpoint in El Socorro, camping on secluded beaches on the Sea of Cortez, Chris surfing his first ever homemade surfboard in Todos Santos, lots of delicious seafood, and a few flat tires.
