July 2009

Once again, this month was filled with a lot of firsts. Jane started dabbling in solid food and mastered swinging in the park.

"Hey Dad!"

"Get up!"

Ready to go!

The big moment.

"Hmm, I guess I like it."

While Jane continued to work on eating her rice cereal, for the Fourth of July we joined some friends who had slow roasted an entire pig.

Our Fourth of July firecracker.

Jane enjoyed hanging out with Uncle Matt while playing with the ribbons from my birthday gifts.

In addition to ribbons, rubber ducks seem to be a favorite toy this month.

Jane's friend Dylan came to visit us for a day.

Holding hands...

holding toes.

A week after the introduction of rice cereal it was time to try applesauce....so exciting.

This is going to be so good!

What??? Yuck!!!

That tastes terrible.

Jane responds to my attempts to feed her another bite of applesauce.

Onions rings were a big hit though.

Thoroughly enjoying reading with Dad...

...and playing outside with Dad...

...and singing with Dad.

Time to eat again. This time Jane asserts her desire to feed herself.

First time in the park swing...

...and just a week later she's a pro.

When not at the park, Jane swings in the hammock we have strung up in our little yard.

I'm not actually sitting in water -- I'm sitting behind Jane's little tub. I am stuck though.

June 2009

Jane hasn't rolled over yet and she's still working on growing some hair, but she has mastered sitting up by herself. I think she is enjoying her toys much more from this vantage point.

However there is still a time and a place for lounging.

I know many of you have been experiencing summer weather for many weeks now, but here in San Diego we've been working our way through the May Gray and June Gloom. However, despite the cloudy weather we decided to have a beach day.

Giving Dad a back rub.

Meme and Babu visited us this month. It was great to have them around for a few days.

GOTCHA!

I'm pretty sure that lime Dad is feeding her was soaking in Mom's margarita...

Meme bought Jane a jaunty blue hat. I think she looks like a little bluebell.

Meme, VV, Jane, and myself went shopping for some clothes for Jane. When we got home, Jane enjoyed rolling around in all her new dresses...it looked like a lot of fun.

Chris has been helping his folks remodel their bedroom and bathroom.
Here he is heading off to work.

We are taking advantage of the longer days and taking evening walks.
Here we are at Lake Murray.

Having fun.

The Daily Routine

It's still all Jane all the time around here. I was hoping to post something different this time (a new recipe, an ambitious new photo essay :-), or at least a witty joke) but it seems that we have developed quite a daily routine that is not conducive to trying out new dishes in the kitchen, flitting off to weird locations to shoot photos, or even reading the funny pages. That is not the say we aren't having fun. As you can see from the pictures below, our days are full of laughter and sweetness.

Jane wakes up with an extremely cheery disposition almost every day.

Following her first breakfast of the day, Jane usually watches some music videos and youtube clips while Mom and Dad drink their coffee.

Mid morning finds her surveying her toys.

Then it is time for some splish splashing in the tub.

ZZZZZZZZZ

In the afternoon we check out the front yard and listen to the big kids playing next door,

then if we are feeling snuggly we curl up in the hammock and look up at the trees.

In the evening Jane likes to play games with her reflection before going to bed.

Not a bad day.
